Are you ready to submit your work and want some guidance on how to write an abstract?  Below are resources providing ‘tips and tricks’ you may wish to reference, however, please follow the guidelines provided on this page for submitting your abstract.

Key Dates

Abstract submission deadline: 
    •  Wednesday, November 20, 2024, midnight Pacific Standard Time (PST).  

Peer review by the ISOPP and CAPhO Research Committees: 
    •  Thursday, November 21 to Sunday, December 8, 2024.  

Acceptance notification to the submitting author via email: 
    •  Monday, December 16, 2024.

Presenting Author Registration Deadline:
    •  Wednesday, January 8, 2025

Electronic version of Poster submission deadline: (applies to all accepted abstracts):
    •  Monday, March 17, 2025

Presenting Author Registration

The presenting author of an accepted abstract MUST register for the Symposium by Wednesday, January 8, 2025 or the abstract will automatically be withdrawn. The submitting author is responsible for notifying the presenting author of the registration deadline. 

Publication

All accepted abstracts will be published (online only) in a supplement of the Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice (JOPP) in April 2025 provided the presenting author registers for the Symposium by Wednesday, January 8, 2025. By submitting an abstract, you consent to the publication of this abstract in JOPP and on ISOPP, CAPhO and the ISOPP CAPhO 2025 websites.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

During the abstract submission process, you will be asked to disclose any conflicts of interest.

Author Information

The first author MUST be the presenting author.

Information required from all authors:

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Affiliation
  • ISOPP member and/or CAPhO member or non-member

Preferred Presentation Type

Please select one of the following presentation options during online abstract submission:

  1. Platform or Poster 
    The Presenting author must be either an ISOPP member or a CAPhO member to be considered for a platform (oral) presentation. Not a member? Join ISOPP and/or CAPhO. There are a limited number of platform presentation timeslots in the program. 
     
  2. Poster
    All accepted abstracts are presented as a poster even if the abstract is also accepted for a platform presentation. Encore presentations are considered for posters only, and not judged for awards.

Title and Content

The abstract title must be less than 150 characters. Please use title case e.g. Upper and Lower Case and NOT UPPER CASE. The submission system will prompt you to follow the following abstract format:

  1. Introduction / Objectives
  2. Study Design / Methods
  3. Results / Key Findings
  4. Discussion
  5. Conclusion / Recommendations
  6. References (include up to 5, if applicable)
  7. Sources of Funding

Note: Abstracts must describe completed research or project work (i.e. contain results and conclusions) and can include up to 5 references.

Poster Abstract Submission Categories

The following 5 submission categories are available:

  1. Administration and Process Improvement (AP): e.g. projects looking at descriptions of aseptic or clinical service delivery, staff training, health economic evaluations.
     
  2. Clinical Research / Evaluations (CRE): e.g. drug use evaluations, retrospective chart reviews, unique clinical cases, pharmacy interventions, meta-analyses or scoping reviews on clinical topics, clinical trials, clinical outcome studies.
     
  3. Translational/Basic Science (TS): e.g. drug stability studies, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics.
     
  4. Trainee (TR): Projects and research conducted by students, residents, fellows, pharmacy interns, or pharmacists-in-training.
     
  5. Encore Presentation (EN): For data/abstracts that have previously been presented at another meeting or published in a professional journal.

Abstract Length

The abstract length is limited to 500 words, not including the abstract title, author names, affiliations, references or source of funding.

Abbreviations

The use of standard abbreviations is desirable if understood globally.

Language

Abstracts are accepted in English.

Number of Submissions

An individual may submit up to two abstracts as primary author. There is no limit on the number of abstracts that an individual can co-author.
